For the last five weeks we have been collecting aluminum, glass, and plastic recyclables for our Cans for Change fundraiser. The response has been overwhelming, to say the least.
We had one person donate eight large trash bags full of cans and bottles to our trip. One woman forwarded a Cans for Change email to her family members, and she collects their recycling for us every week. Our church announced Cans for Change to their Sunday gatherings, and different people participate by giving every week. A local theatre program has been setting a separate trash bag aside to collect water bottles after their rehearsals. Another woman told her elementary school kids about our fundraiser, and they have begun to recycle at their house.
Cans for Change has become incredibly successful, not only because we have raised over $200 (from garbage!) in just over a month, but because it has become a community effort. People are making a difference in our lives as we raise money to go to Thailand, in the lives of the people we are going to serve, and in the environment!
We are so encouraged by all who have participated in Cans for Change, and together we are making a difference!
Thank you for your partnership.
